What to expect

We shoot for the brief, not just the portfolio

A lot of headshot photographers shoot for their own portfolio. We shoot for yours.

That means the conversation before the camera comes out matters. What have you been putting up on Spotlight? What are you being called in for? What do you want to be called in for? The session is built around those answers.

We'll push you when a look is working and tell you when it isn't. That's the job.

Preparation

How to get the most from your session

A bit of prep before the day makes a real difference to what you walk away with.

  • 👕
Keep outfits simple. Solid colours work best. Avoid busy prints or logos that pull focus from your face. Bring 2 or 3 options and we'll decide together.
  • 💧
Skin prep matters. Drink water the day before. Avoid heavy alcohol or anything that affects your skin. Arrive fresh-faced and we'll handle the rest in post.
  • 🎭
Think about your type. What roles are you going up for? What do you want to be going up for? The clearer you are on this, the better we can direct the session.
  • 📋
Check your current shots. Look at what you've got on Spotlight before you come in. Know what you're trying to replace or add to.
  • 🕐
Don't rush the morning. Arrive rested if you can. A tight schedule before the shoot shows on camera.
  • 📸
Trust the process. If you haven't had professional headshots before, it can feel uncomfortable at first. That's normal. The first 20 minutes are the warmup.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How much do actor headshots cost at LemonShark Studio?

Studio portrait sessions start from £75. On-location sessions start from £300. Full package details, including what's included at each price point, are on our booking page.

Are the headshots Spotlight-ready?

Yes. We deliver retouched files formatted to Spotlight's technical specs. You can upload them straight from the delivery folder without resizing or converting anything.

How long does a session take?

Most sessions run 60 to 90 minutes. That's enough time for multiple setups, outfit changes, and to actually warm up in front of the camera. We won't rush you out the door.

What should I wear?

Simple, solid colours that suit your skin tone. Avoid loud prints, logos, or anything that pulls attention from your face. Bring 2 to 3 outfit options and we'll choose on the day. If you want guidance before the session, just email us.

Can I get both studio and outdoor shots?

Yes. Studio sessions and on-location sessions can be combined. Get in touch before booking and we'll put together a package that works for you.

Where is the studio?

769b Fulham Road, London SW6 5HA. It's a 5-minute walk from Parsons Green station and 15 minutes from Fulham Broadway. There's parking nearby on side streets.

How soon do I get the images?

Delivery times depend on the package. This is confirmed at booking. If you have a deadline, let us know in advance and we'll factor it in.

I've never had professional headshots before. Is that a problem?

It's not. A lot of people find the first professional shoot uncomfortable and that's completely normal. The first part of every session is a warmup. By the time we're getting the good shots, you'll have settled in.
